If you have nothing better to do today, on New Year, I suggest that you go to the nearest cinema and watch this movie. Aamir Khan had done it again. I watched 3 Idiots before and of course I was amazed by the message hidden in the movie. And this time, the same thing happened. I was really, truly amazed!

The strength of this story is not on the songs, or dancing around the tree for half an hour (oh my!) but on the message it tried to portray. From the words of Mr H, "Simple movie but powerful!". It certainly is.

The movie was based on a true story of a father Mahavir Singh Phogat who wanted to win gold for India in the wrestling category but received no support from his family. I guess I can tolerate with this. What Mahavir's father said in the movie was right, yes you won in so many games, but then what is there to eat from all these winnings? The medals?

Mahavir stopped from entering any more games and took a full time job. He secretly wished that he would get a son to continue his legacy. Nevertheless, all his four children are girls. Again, he was frustrated and decided to forget about his dreams, to win gold for India in Commonwealth Games. Something happened along the way that made him realized that gold is still gold and gender has nothing to do with it. So he trained his girls to be involved in wrestling. The rest, as they said, was history.

There are so many things that we can learn from this movie. Firstly, whether living a parent's dream is putting much pressure on the child or not. Personally I see that nothing is wrong if the child herself has the same interest as the father. However, if that is not the case, it would be unfair to force the child to continue your dream. Secondly, the duration of one second can definitely change your life. That was what happened to Geeta during the Commonweath games. All her winning points were gained at the end of the time of the game. Meaning that every second of your life matters. Hmmm, a reminder to myself not to waste time, hehehe.

I really recommend you to go and watch this movie. Oh, please prepare some tissues before you go in, I am sure you will need it at some points of the movie :P
